ABOUT.
Tanya Ravichandran is a South Asian creative director, photographer, archivist, and cultural storyteller working at the intersection of fashion history, technology, and sustainability.
She grew up near San Francisco, specifically in Cupertino. Growing up in Silicon Valley, she was surrounded by technology from an early age and later studied computer science alongside UX/UI design in college. At the same time, she built her career in photography: she started a photography Instagram at 11, began shooting social and campaign work by 14, and photographed magazine features by 16, eventually shifting her work toward luxury fashion.
Her practice expanded into archival fashion collecting, with a focus on understanding the history and craft behind garments. Her personal archive includes Alexander McQueen, Ann Demeulemeester, Tom Ford era Gucci, Tom Ford era Yves Saint Laurent, and Prada. Her Alexander McQueen archive includes over 50 pre-death Lee McQueen pieces.
Tanya creative directs and produces all of her projects and frequently shoots and serves as DP on her own work as well as select client projects. Outside of her work, she enjoys marathon running, skiing, rock climbing, and collecting rare vintage fashion books and ephemera.
